Ed O'Donnell Vice President of CELCAT USA and Ian Grimes Regional Account Manager from CELCAT UK attended the AACC (American Association of Community Colleges) conference in Washington DC from 5th to 8thApril.

Community Colleges in USA are similar to FE Colleges in the UK and provide a vital role in ensuring that the skills required to keep the country running are disseminated to students in post high school education.

A main highlight of the conference was the visit and speech of US Vice President Joe Biden and his wife Dr. Jill Biden a professor of English at Northern Virginia Community College.

Vice President Biden outlined that there is a massive shortfall within the USA of skilled tradesmen and women in areas such as plumbing, electrical trades, auto engineering and IT technicians.  He outlined that the Administration continues to advance an aggressive agenda aimed at increasing student access and success in Community Colleges that will ultimately pay dividends in further strengthening the nation's economy.

The conference provided a fine opportunity for delegates to see that CELCAT Timetabler is a flexible and powerful tool for helping Community Colleges deliver a space efficient and clash free schedule for their increasing student numbers.
